VDO has been founded in 1999 as independent Ltd. In May 1999 takeover of VDO Bicycle Computer Division including worldwide distribution. Meanwhile distributes bike computers in over 50 countries. The main office and warehouse are based in Rohrbach/Landau (Germany).

In 2007 VDO introduced to the world the bike computers from the Z Series which were fully digital with ANT+ wireless technology. In 2008 introduced the X Series which have double wireless and digital transmission of the data. In 2010 VDO present the Bike GPS Navigator GP7.
